Hougang United gear up to host visitors Gombak United this Thursday at the Hougang stadium. Aide's black army replenishes itself with extra muscle up front in the form of Brazilian striker Vitor Borges, who has since joined Hougang United after a 6 month stint at Balestier Khalsa.
His recruitment comes during this pivotal moment where the injury duck has hit the Cheetahs for about a month or so, leaving the fire power upfront severely wanting. And a big & strong fella like Vitor Borges is just what Hougang United needs. He will be a welcomed inclusion.

Striker Vitor Borges signs on for Hougang United whilst Kobayashi leaves for Woodlands
Update 30.06.2011 (Hougang United have also signed centerback Sharil Alias.)
I've just recieved word that Japanese defender Fumiya Kobayashi has been released from Hougang United and will be moving to Woodlands Wellington, whilst Brazilian striker Vitor Borges has joined the Cheetahs from Balestier Khalsa.
I would like to thank Koba for being a solid rock at the back 4 and his services during his stay in Hougang United and wish him all the best in his career at Woodlands Wellington. You will be missed Koba :)
And also a warm welcome to Vitor Borges. May he provide extra fire power upfront and help the Cheetahs charge up the table; a season absolutely ground breaking for Hougang United. :)

Punishment unfair, says Hougang chief
By TODAY
Bill Ng points to lack of concrete evidence, says club will appeal
SINGAPORE - The act has been condemned, conciliatory steps taken, and Tuesday saw the Football Association of Singapore's (FAS) disciplinary committee dole out punishments to Hougang United and Etoile FC for their part in an S-League pre-match fracas on May 23.
But Hougang will not let the matter rest, claiming the fine imposed on the club and points deducted were unfair because of "evidence that is not concrete" and that the disciplinary committee failed to take into account the actions of club officials to diffuse the matter.

Balestier Khalsa vs Hougang United
The battle for Middle-Earth continues...Both Balestier and Hougang reunite at the Toa Payoh stadium after both sides succumbed to 2-0 losses in their latest fixtures.
Balestier's lost to Gombak United means the Bulls leap frog the Cheetahs (7th) to 6th in the S-league and Geylang's win (8th) in Hougang see them surge infront of the Tigers who are currently in the 9th position.

When these 2 sides met up in March at the Bedok Stadium, it seemed to be that the Cheetahs were the favourites to win but that did not happen as the Eagles scored 2 goals within a 15 min window to deliver Hougang United a painful suckerpunch who were leading 1-0 until the 50th min when the Cheetahs' defenses caved in. The Eagles soared through that evening with a well deserved 2-1 victory.
This time round Geylang United make their way to the den of Hougang Stadium and Cheetah fans will definitely welcome them with open arms and vocal charms; to help them Eagles ease their minds during the 90mins of play.

Hougang United will be trading paws with the Malaysia's National U-19 team Harimau Muda B (Young Tigers) this coming Friday under the RHB Singapore Cup 2011 knockout competition. Last years Singapapore Cup winners were the team from Thailand - Bangkok Glass FC.
This match comes few weeks after the abandonment of the Hougang/Etoile match, and I think everyone deserves a much needed break to recollect themselves.
