Match Preview: Hougang vs Woodlands

Next Fixture
Friday, July 15th, 2011
1930hrs, Jalan Besar Stadium

    Hougang United       vs      Woodlands Wellington

Hougang United were on lady lucks gaze when the North-Easterners took home a solitude goal beating SAFFC on home soil. Carlos Delgado condemns Warriors to 2nd defeat in a week while Hougang United leap frog Geylang United and Gombak United into 6th place.

Hougang fans have now something to cheer about as the Cheetahs have recently developed an uncanny appetite for beating top teams in the S-League.

"Having recently beaten Tampines 2-0 at home and now SAFFC away from home, the stocks of the former Sengkang Punggol have risen sharply this season." - Paul Green (source)

This is the tenth win for the humble Hougang United footballing club and have score a total of 34 goals and collected 26 points from 19 games. 31 points, if you consider the 5 point deduction.

So let's keep our paws crossed that the Hougang players retain and take their fine form to the Jalan Besar Stadium this Friday and repeat the same feat.

Woodlands Wellington having claimed their first victory since mid of May, will also be vying to cash in on their morale boosting 1-0 win over Balestier Khalsa; and confront Hougang United on neutral grounds.

The Rams have had it bumpy this season, netting in 10 goals in 21 games; but since the introduction of new faces like Fumiya Kobayashi and Duncan Elias in defence (both former Hougang United players), the Rams' attempt in keeping clean sheets seems to be a promising one.

Both teams face off again at Jalan Besar and it was Hougang who emerged victorious silencing the Rams 4-1 in the first meeting. Jordan Webb and Diego Oliviera bagging a double each. I'm looking forward to the 2nd meeting. :)

"As the Cheetahs, and with a new strip of orange and black the Hougang team, strongly backed by their many vocal fans, have emerged as one of the teams to beat this season and this win certainly won’t be the last."

You said it right Mr. Green because ...
