Woodlands Wellington 1 : 4 Hougang United
Ali Imran Lomri (73') Diego Oliviera (13')
Diego Oliviera (19')
Jordan Webb (62')
Jordan Webb (78')
The Cheetahs record their 3rd away win at the Jalan Besar Stadium with another convincing performance that secures them a decent 7th spot in the S-league.
The evening began with Diego Gama's opening goal in the 13th min after some lack of communication between the Ram's defenders allowed the Brazilian to chip the ball over the keeper and into the net.
The Brazilian doubled his scoring tally 6 minutes later when he found space in the left edge of the penalty box and unleashed a low one that beat the Woodlands keeper. 3rd goal of the season for Diego. But the Brazilian had to be substituted after receiving a knock and Jordan Webb was pushed upfront to take his place.
Half time: 2-0 to the Cheetahs.
Hougang United continued to mount the pressure and 10 mins into the seoncd half Mamadou Diallo forced his way though a forest of Rams and released a low shot which only found the hands of the Woodlands Wellington's custodian.
But 7 mins later, the Guinean was once again crucial in supplying his Canadian colleague Jordan Webb his 6th goal of the season. Some clever passing in the center of the pitch and Diallo's through ball saw Jordan Webb slotting in the third for the Cheetahs.
A moment of lack of concentration allowed Woodlands to claw a goal back. In the 73rd min, the Rams were awarded a corner kick but the cross wasn't cleared far enough and found the feet of Ali Imran who slammed the ball into Hougang's net from close range. 1-3 the scored board read.
But Hougang United had the final say for this night. And in the 78th min restored the 3 goal cushion with another contribution by the Canadian striker.
Sobrie Mazelan's penetrating run exposed a back pedalling Woodlands defence, and Jordan Webb connected with Sobrie's pass to plant a superb volley into the Woodlands goal. Season tally for Jordy: 7 goals.
1-4 to the Cheetahs.
What a way to end the match! Great job Cheetahs!
