Match Preview: Hougang vs Tanjong Pagar

After Tuesday's 2-0 win over Balestier Khalsa, Hougang United continue to march on the upturn as the North Easterners host the Jaguars of Tanjong Pagar this Thursday, in another home match for the Cheetahs.

Tanjong Pagar United who have just lifted themselves off the bottom of the table with their 3-1 victory over Courts Young Lions will want to bank on their new found inspiration prior to the Hougang clash.

Back in April, Hougang United routed Tanjong Pagar to a 5-0 beating at the Clementi Stadium. A game which saw Ratna Suffian opened the floodgates, Md Noor Ali scoring twice, and then coupled with goals from Mamadou Diallo and Diego Oliveira shoring up the home side.

For Thursday's match though, Hougang United should be stead fast enough in tidying up the Clementi based football club; after back to back wins elevate the black orange outfit to 7th in the league; 1 point behind Gombak United who are 6th with 37 points.

Some cheer for Hougang supporters, as we may see the return of Jordan Webb and Diallo returning from suspension. Both were instrumental in the win against Geylang United last friday. Diallo - for his grounded shot that leveled the game, and Webb's dual role as defender and winger after Shahril's red card.

However, Shahril Alias and Vitor Borges will both sit out for Thursday's clash due to suspensions.

I hope to see Aide Iskandar field more of the young guns like Eddie Chang and Aqhari Abdullah both were outstanding in the 2-0 win over Balestier Tigers. They are the future heroes of Hougang United. :)

"Hougang HOOLs! We are here! OOH OOH!
Hougang HOOLs! We are here! OOH OOH!
Hougang HOOLs! We are here! Keep the faith and never fear!
OOoooH!"
