Hougang United's dramatic comeback last Friday against Geylang United made history for itself for beating all teams in all competition this season. A nice record to have for a club with the smallest budget in the S-League.
That said, Balestier Khalsa is still a team not to be underestimated. The Tiger's new striker Mark McGough put 2 past the Cheetahs the last time these two teams met in June which results in a 4-2 win for Hougang United at Toa Payoh Stadium, so the Cheetahs will be looking out for this fella.
And in March, a 2-2 draw for Balestier when they visited Hougang United at home. Kim Young Kwang knocked in a two goals in a span of 20 minutes to deliver a late comeback.
As for the Cheetahs, tonight's game will be without the services of 2 industrious midfielders Mamadou Diallo who scored against Geylang last week and Jordan Webb, both will be unavailable due to suspension. Shahril Alias will also be seating out in this game due to receiving his red card in the Geylang game last Friday.
However, Aide Iskandar shouldn't have much of a problem selecting his available backup players to fill the shoes of the 2 absentees. Md Noor Ali and Sobrie Mazelan should be able to supply attacks from the flanks.
Fathi Yunos and promising youngster Aqhari Abdullah will also be available for defensive and attacking options in the center of the pitch. Syaqir Sulaiman is also available for right back duties.
Hougang United need to keep their back line disciplined and organised when they do go forward, and if they keep a clean sheet for tonight's game then it will be a plus as we are the 3rd highest on conceding goals, just above Woodlands Wellington and Tanjong Pagar.
But I think I understand the reason for Hougang United's open play is that they want to foster the attacking mindset in the players, a style fans and supporters actually enjoy watching. Me too!
Come on! Hougang!
Come on! Hougang!
Come on! Hougang!
