Hougang United 2 : 2 Balestier Khalsa
Duncan Elias (5') Kim Young Kwang (77')
Carlos Delgado (47') Kim Young Kwang (83')
Match Attendance: 1239
Last night's outcome of the battle of the cats certainly pales in comparison to a crowd on an energy high. It gave everyone including myself our tickets worth of heart thumping adrenaline.
Credit goes to the Hougang United supporters for their entertaining and spontaneous cheers. You guys just made every one's day. Big ups to everybody. THE Fandi Ahmad was also sitting among the supporters, I hope he enjoyed the match as much as I did. :)
The Cheetahs put themselves up in front in the 5th minunte with a Duncan David Elias free kick. The ball was whipped in high and fast, eluding everyone including the keeper. Cheers from the stands came fast and furious, and the stadium was transformed into a mini-kallang roar.
Hougang 1 Balesteir 0 at half time.
In similar fashion, the second half saw Hougang United score their second. Jordan Webb's trickery found himself space amongst a cluster of defenders and from the left edge of the penalty box and he crossed one into the six yard box for Carlos Delgado to knock in his 3rd goal of the S-league season.
With a 2 goal cushion, the Cheetahs surged on. A splendid solo dribbling from the center of the pitch saw Mamadou Diallo weaved past 3-4 Tiger defenders but was unlucky infront of goal, and his effort was saved by the Balestier keeper.
However, the situation changed for the better for Balestier Khalsa and they rallied themselves to close the 2 nil gap. They were duly reward on the 77th minute when their Korean striker Kim Young Kwang latched on to a long pass and slotted his goal past Fadhil Salim.
Lady luck would not be smiling on the Cheetahs once more. The Tigers, sensing renewed energy launched counters after counters. A cross from Balestier's Victor Borges was met by a powerfully header of the Korean striker, second of the night for Kim, and he left the Cheetahs keeper no chance. The game finished 2-2.
More defense scrutinising for Coach Aide Iskandar but on the whole Hougang United gave spectators something positive to take home from this match. Hougang United is an underdog in the making. :)
Onward Cheetahs! Go Go Go!
