Match Preview: SAF vs Hougang

Next Fixture
Sunday, July 10th, 2011
1930hrs, Choa Chu Kang Stadium

               SAF FC    vs     Hougang United

Title contenders SAF FC entertain the spunk of Hougang United at Choa Chu Kang as the pride of the north east march on to meet the team of the west side story.

Cheetahs come to this match in a bid to cancel out their defeat against Albirex Niigata but this Sunday will indeed be an uphill task for the North Eastern boys.

SAF FC will undoubtedly want the win this Sunday after having themselves lost to a 10 men Home United even when the Protectors were playing a man less for the second half.

In April, the Hougang side narrowly lost to the Warriors 2-1 in a game which saw the Warriors taking lead in the first half and revitalised Cheetahs to pull back a goal in the second half.

The Cheetahs have absolutely nothing to loose this season and they have already acheived more then what they have set out this season, even beating Tampines Rovers. :)

So all they have got to do is keep their defensive works in order, an area we still need to improve. But hoping the likes of Shariff Samat will make a quick return to marshal the backline into discipline.

On the attacking front, Vitor Borges seems to be adpating well in his role as target man. He holds and collects long balls and that allows wing men like Jordan Webb, Fazli Jaffar and Noor Ali to charge up on the counter.

In midfield, no one does the center of the park proud than the maestro Carlos Delgado, who has been a pinnacle presence and balance of the Hougang midfield. And with him partnering up with twinkle toed Mamadou Diallo and the consummate Azhar Sairudin, it would be oh so fantastic.

So who knows, maybe unpredictable Hougang United might claw the Warriors?! Keeping fingers cross.

So my lads, fear not, the Hougang Hools will be there at Choa Chu Kang to annouce to the nation that the boys of the north east have arrived. And we make it happening in the S-League. I hope SAF fans don't be a library. Hehe..
