Last night's match was an entree of old fashioned true grit clash between the Cheetahs and the Stars as each team sought after their elusive 3 points. A total of 8 yellow cards were shown. 3 to Etoile and 5 to Hougang United.
Cheetah's keeper, Ridzuan Fatah was given his turn between the post as custodian Fadhil Salim recuperated from his previous outings.
The first half saw an equal tussle among the 22 men on the pitch with both sides enjoying chances.
A scoring opportunity opened up for Hougang United. Winger Fazli Jaffar's industrious run along the left flanks produced a cross that met Noor Ali's header, only to see it bounce off an Etoile defender for a corner.
It was a stale mate at half time. 0-0.
Etoile opened the scoring in the early stages of the second half. A well taken free kick from the edge of the box and the Cheetah's were stunned.(47')
After that, a floodgate of goals came fast and furious and Etoile were 2-0 up in the next 5 mins.(51')
Hougang United came back strongly with some trademark counter attacking thanks to a Carlos Delgado sprint down the right flank and crossing the ball to Jordan Webb who slotted the goal passed the Etoile keeper.(52')
Etoile replied back strongly through a freekick. Striker Justin toe poked the ball into the Hougang goal giving Etoile a 3-1 lead.
You could definitely sense the urgency for a comeback and in true Cheetah fighting spirit, the lads forced a clearance error on the French keeper and Carlos Delgado pounced on the loose ball and drilled in a low shot, scoring his second of the season for Hougang United. (69')
The score board read 3-2, and Hougang supporters were drooling for an equalizer. But that equalizer was not to come. In the final minutes of the game, Etoile striker Justin headed in the final goal of the game courtesy of a Belouet pass. (90')

Final score 4-2, and 3 points evaded us yet again but this night showcased the attacking abilities of the Cheetahs. The Hougang lads stayed true to their offensive tactics even though they were down but definitely not out.
The only bad aftertaste of the match was the mini brawl at the end of the 90 mins. See picture.
Anyhow, well done Hougang United, you fought the good fight. You've given the defending Champs a run for their money. Go Cheetahs Go!
