Hougang United will face the Bulls of Gombak United on Tuesday in a RHB Singapore Cup Quarter final fixture, which will be a two-legged fixture.
Hougang, who had a fairytale run last season, in which they had finished fourth last season in the cup, only to be denied by both foreign teams, Albirex Niigata & Etoile FC.
The Cheetahs will be looking to spark another glory run in the cup, and with Lau Meng Meng and his charges managed to dispatch Tanjong Pagar United through penalties in the preliminary round, they are looking to settle the tie against the Bulls.
After ending a six-game run by beating the Jaguars 1-0 in a S-League fixture, confidence is at an-all time high in the Cheetahs’ camp. Hougang will be boosted with a completely healthy team and free of suspensions for this tie, however, the Bulls are no easy meat.
Hougang had a forgettable visit in March at the Jurong West Stadium, falling 3-1 against the Bulls, and handing them their first win of the season. However, with Gombak having their indifferent form this season; winning against Home United, DPMM and Harimau Muda at their home ground, but fell against struggling Geylang United. Therefore, Hougang will be looking to strike fatality in both legs of the tie.
Hougang will then play at home on June 8th, for the next tie, and by then, hopefully they will advance to the next round, in which they will either face Home United or SAFFC in the semi-finals.
