Last week's calamity witnessed S-League's side Geylang United destroyed by a 7-1 Home United rout in front of the Geylang crowd.

Home United got into the thick of action early in the 13th minute with former Albirex Niigata striker Shotaro Ihata opening the floodgates slotting in four past the Eagle's custodian. His colleague Frederic Mendy further compounded Geylang's misery with notching in a couple more goals.

That first win performance puts Home United's title contentions back in track and the S-league powerhouse will now pay Hougang United a visit at the Jalan Besar Stadium. A win here would place the Protectors top of the league.

Previous fixtures between Hougang and Home have shown that the Protectors still have an upper hand when it comes to churning out results. They thumped Hougang 5-0 last March and fashioned a 4-2 win against the Cheetahs in May.

The only time Hougang got the better of Home was in the League Cup in which former Hougang midfielder Noor Ali fired the Cheetahs into the finals through a solitary goal.

And hopefully we may well see Guinean forward Mamadou Diallo open his account against Home United. Diallo was the only other Hougang player who scored against Home United last season and the other was Noor Ali.

And what's news? Jordan Webb would probably be the most marked player for that evening given his habit of skipping past his markers. In the previous outing against Balestier Khlalsa, the Canadian winger fell victim to a barrage of unnecessary tackles.

Nenad Bacina did offer his views on providing protection for key players but that would depend on the awareness of the referee at helm. We certainly hate having to called out to the referee and giving him a torrid time if proceedings on the pitch seem unreasonable. However, we shall reserve our comments for another day. :)

We predict a 4-5-1 formation with the midfield tussle between Hougang's Azhar Sairudin, Ante Barac and Home's Shi Jiayi and John Wilkinson.

The outcome of this match would solely rest on the shoulders of Hougang United defending prowess. Captain Isaac Lau and his colleagues will have the daunting task of keeping the likes of Shotaro Ihata, Frederic Mendy and Qiu Li from running-a-muck in the Hougang half.

And if they hold the fort, the Orange Black outfit may fancy their chances hurting the Protectors on the counter.

However, respect must be given to the title contenders but not without giving them a run for their money; and not far from the minds of Hougang United supporters lurks the possibility of an upset.

It looks like a tall order but anything can happen in the world of football.

See you at Jalan Besar Stadium! Come on! Hougang!
