Having points split between Tanjong Pagar last Thursday, Hougang United will be looking for a positive outcome when they swipe paws with S-League side Courts Young Lions this Friday at the Jalan Besar Stadium.

Coach Nenad Bacina had expressed his disappointment for not bagging the opening win against the Jaguars but he did reserve praises for his players afterall, commenting on their composure towards the game.

Courts Young Lions on the other hand are still in need for some fine tuning despite debuting new faces Sherif El-Masri and ex-Hougang midfielder Aqhari Abdullah.

The home side went down 1-0, no thanks to a Woodlands Wellington penalty capitalised by striker Moon Soon Ho. Rams find themselves in third place after the first round.
However said, history teaches us that last season's Courts Young Lions are still a dangerous side, more so when they won 2-0 over Hougang during the fasting season and drew 1-1 in the later stage of the competition. Former Hougang striker Diego Gamma tidying things with an equalizing header after Cheetahs trailed one goal down.

But for now, there is much to cheer as forward Diallo Mamadou has been declared fit after passing the beep test. The Guinean's highly anticipated return may however be short lived, as he may only be featured in the later half.

But fingers are all crossed inside the supporters camp that he'll make an appearance; and if he does, put in a goal or two. Hougang Hools eager to take up front row seats for this clash, lest we miss out on the finer details of the football action. :)

We expect no change from Hougang United's formation of 4-4-1-1 with midfielder Nurhil Jasni playing behind forward Sobrie Mazelan. The former Balestier Khalsa midfielder proved he was a handful in the previous meeting; his teasing runs gave the Tanjong Pagar lines very little breathing space.

Croatian playmaker Ante Barac also showed awareness as well as a tighter display of set skills. His cross eventually assisted Jordan Webb's goal against TPUFC.

Hougang backlines however impressive, still need scrutiny. But apart from the lapse that gave the Jaguars a point to take home, Hougang United's back four looks sturdier compared to last season's defensive performance in which the orange black outfit were breached 63 times. But that's past tense and now...
