Hougang United vs Etoile FC
Hougang United and Etoile seem to be the only 2 teams in the S-League to have a love hate relationship, and who can disagree that when emotions run high, things can get complicated on and off the pitch.
That being said, we should put history behind us and focus on charting a unifying future in our footballing business.
The defending champions having won 4 and drew 1 in their last 5 matches. Their last game saw the french outfit dropping 2 point against Courts Young Lions, and the score could have been contributed by key players absent on international duties as well as players on the injury list.
But they are still the team to beat this season and it would be fair to say that Etoile FC are now itching for another well deserved win when the face off the Cheetahs on the the 4th of September.
The Cheetahs haven't had ladyluck's eye of late, having only secured a win against SAF FC in July and loosing the rest of the 4 games, latest defeat being a 3-1 lost to Tampines Rover away.
We should be able (I hope) to see the return of Mamadou Diallo and Arzhar Sairudin coming back to action in the center of the park, both who were absent in the last match between Okkthar United in the RHB Singapore cup.
Right back Syaqir Sulaiman should also be fit enough for this game after completing a reserve game last week. He has since recovered from his thigh injury that sidelined him for a stretch of time.
On the flip side, Hougang United have been enjoying a new found status in this years S-League for having the knack for eliminating big teams during their course of the League Cup campaigns, a reputation this middle class under-dog team proudly embraces.
And I'm sure, Hougang United supporters will be banking on that, as well as luck too. We'll see how this game pans out. See you fervent fans at the stands! HOOLS!
