Match Preview: Hougang vs Tampines

Next Fixture
Thursday, May 19th, 2011
1930hrs, Hougang Stadium

      Hougang United    vs     Tampines Rovers

Another tough bump on the road. Leaders of the pack, Tampines Rovers travelling to play Cheetahs at the Hougang stadium this coming Thursday 19th May. The Stags extended their lead as they secured a comfortable 3-1 win against the Japanese side of Albirex Niigata.

National striker Aleksanda Duric also leading the pack of top scorers for this season with a total tally of 12 goals.

Hougang United must hold their fort against the tide of the Stags, not forgetting the last outing between the two saw the Hougang team routed to a 5-2 defeat at the Tampines Stadium albeit a goal fest match for many eyes.

The Cheetahs are currently 7th with 19 points and playing catch up against Gombak United (6th) with 21 points which means the Cheetahs must do the unthinkable of defeating Tampines Rover if they intend to leap frog the Bulls.

And with Brazilian striker Diego Gama who will be out for a couple of months due to knee surgery, it would seem like an audacious task to accomplish. Still, we wish Diego a quick recovery! :)

Hope is that the Cheetahs bounce back from their 4-2 slump against the Home United last Monday at the Bishan Stadium. Mamadou Diallo, the only scorer against the Home outfit has 3 goals to his name this season, the other goal against Home United was the work of their own defender in the form of an own goal.

What the Cheetahs needs this Thursday is to stay focus and tight at the back, and their 12th players will be there to back them up. So bring on the fight Rovers! It's Stag hunting time!)
