Hougang United fought the good fight and lost to the Warriors. Though I would say, and maybe some may agree that the Cheetahs definitely gave SAF their money's worth.

However, there is much to be said about the Hougang back line. The Cheetahs gave SAF with a 4th min goal with some off focus defending.

By mid way through the first half, Hougang United's midfield trio of Carlos Delgado, Mamadou Diallo and Jordan Webb seem to have the upper hand, as SAF found themselves floundering with their charges in the middle of the pitch.

Captain Shariff Samat came close to scoring when he connected from a Carlos Delgado freekick. Shariff instinctively back kick the ball but his shot went wide over the bar.

Though the Cheetahs commanded the midfield, SAF had the last word and their counter attacks produced another quality goal minutes before the half time whistle. A header from Jerkovic forced a save on Fahdil Salim and the Japanese winger Akiyoshi  pounced on the rebound and slotted the second goal of the evening.

2-0 to the Warriors at Half Time.

Second half showed a muched improved performance from the Hougang outfit, as they dominated most of the game and winning most of the possession in midfield. SAF on the other hand played more defensively and at times found themselves back pedalling from the Hougang United counter attacks.

On the quater mark, after some great work on the flanks, Faizal Amir broke though from the right and he crossed the ball into an unmarked Jordan Webb who happily headed the ball in for his 5th of the S-League.

“The defending was awful,” said Aide, famed as a player for his work at the back.

“But I have to give credit to the boys. They performed well, and we scored a good goal. It’s just unfortunate that we couldn’t get a second.”

Down but never out and that's the kind of fighting spirit fans and supporters admire. Come on Hougang! You can do it guys! :)
