Without our key players Diego Gama de Oliveira and Mamadou Diallo in the line-up, Home United were quick to cement their authority. They opened their scoring with a long rang effort by Firdaus (18') from the left edge of the box.

The Cheetahs were thoroughly whipped, conceding 5 goals without a reply and on top of that, 2 yellow cards shown to centerback Ratna Suffian within a space of 5min. Hougang's engine room were down to 10 men with 3/4's of the match left to be played.

Even though this blog post has an inherent bias, I felt the second yellow card was a bit harsh and unfair to Ratna. The refee's been really generous with the yellow cards ...

After Ratna was sent off in the 39th min, we were given a life line when the Cheetahs were awarded a penalty but Carlos Delgado squandered the penalty when his effort was saved by the keeper. Argh!

The score read 1-0 to Home united at half time.

The second session was pretty much a very one sided game as the Cheetahs toiled with the 10 men and Home United took advantage of their extra man to force an own goal (68') through some mixed up in the Cheetahs back line.

From that on, Home United just curved up the home side slotting in 3 goals, 2 of which came from the closing minutes of the game.(78')(86')(90')

Hougang United however, did manage to rally their performances with  some good saves from keeper Fadil Salim and decent chances from Jordan Webb but his shot hit the post. Ultimately, the fate of the match was sealed by then.

In the words of unhappy Coach Aide Iskandar, “In the end, it really was not our day.”

Cheetah's need to re-organise themselves and prepare to take on Etoile at Queenstown next Monday. Go Hougang!
